Dark mode is becoming increasingly popular, and manufacturers are introducing system-wide support for this, as well as in the first party app. Google has already introduced Dark Themes to apps such as Contacts, YouTube, and Google Keep and Google Calendar applications will soon be supported. Even the Instant Messaging app owned by Facebook is based on whatsapp’s dark theme, and the beta version has been seen recently.
Whatsapp reportedly said it was going to be night mode, and the Android Beta version 2.19.139 was recently worked on. Support for this, however, was limited to the call and status pages of the app. Night mode dark theme has also been expanded to other parts of the app, as WABetaInfo said, though. It was found in version 2.19.145 of beta.
In these parts, community information pages, contact information pages and a new conversation / group on the page where you start. Nonetheless, as you can see from WABetaInfo shared screenshots, the implementation appears to be half baked in the community information page, only in the top half, while the bottom half still functions.
The latest beta also features 155 new updated emojis, where instant messaging app makes some cosmetic changes in old emoji. Some of them are going to see improvements in the interface, while others are going to get a completely new look. Whatsapp has not yet made it official, but public rollouts are planned in the coming weeks for new emoji and dark mode.
Whatsapp also removed the ability to save images of users in a recent update. The company recently announced that it will be carrying out the last update for the Windows Phone app in June, and in December 2019 it will end support for the same. Whatsapp recently discovered a speech bug that allegedly installed spyware on the phone. The company has been prompt to discuss the release of updates and fix the bug.
